The Bremen Shura is an umbrella organization of Islamic communities in the state of Bremen. Founded in 2006, it is registered as "Schura Islamische Religionsgemeinschaft Bremen e.V." (Bremen Islamic Religious Community). All Muslim ethnic groups in Bremen are represented within the Bremen Shura.
The association is dedicated to promoting the Islamic faith in accordance with the Quran and Sunna. It fosters dialogue among Muslims, supports its members in their religious duties, coordinates their interests, and represents its members externally. The same applies, even more so, to dialogue between Muslims and non-Muslims. This dialogue has barely begun in earnest. Muslims are still primarily occupied with dismantling prejudices against their religion.
The Shura, as the representative body of Muslims, serves as a point of contact for politicians, representatives of other religions, and the institutions that otherwise reflect the pluralism of a democratic society. But any individual can also contact the Shura directly. The Shura is open to all of goodwill.
