The KlimaWerkStadt (Climate Workshop) is run by the small, non-profit organization KulturPflanzen eV, which also initiated the urban garden project ‘Ab geht die Lucie’ – located opposite the KlimaWerkStadt. Both projects work closely together but are organized independently.
The KlimaWerkStadt (Climate Workshop) opened its doors in January 2018 and has since offered a comprehensive program on the topic of climate protection. In the first two years, over 180 events took place, including many workshops and lectures, but also film screenings, clothing swaps, tastings, etc.
Since its inception, our Repair Café has been held every Wednesday from 5-8 pm, where we have already repaired over 1000 electrical appliances, bicycles, and textiles. We also have an open woodworking shop and Bremen's only stash of consumables.
In our material collection, we gather craft supplies such as fabrics, buttons, zippers, etc., but also craft materials, paper, packaging, and electrical cables. Anything that can still be reused can be donated to us and taken in exchange for a donation. This keeps things in circulation and conserves resources.
The KlimaWerkStadt is not just a venue for events, but also a place of solidarity and community. Around 50 volunteers are involved in the space, and various groups use it.
All services are donation-based, although it's important to mention that the space cannot be maintained without donations. However, one's own financial resources should not prevent participation.
The Climate Workshop makes active, everyday climate protection a tangible experience. The focus is on taking action, not just talking. For a better climate in many respects!
KulturPflanzen eV is supported by the funding programs “Climate Protection in Everyday Life” and “BioStadt Bremen” of the Senator for Climate Protection, Environment, Mobility, Urban Development and Housing of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen
