The German Red Cross youth recreation center offers children and young people a space where they can develop freely and feel comfortable.
The youth center, also known as "Freizi," in Alt-Aumund is run by the German Red Cross (DRK) Bremen branch. Our open-access children's and youth work focuses on promoting participation and independent action, gender-sensitive work, violence prevention, and respectful interaction. We want to offer children and young people a space where they can develop freely and feel comfortable. Both inside our building and on the adjacent grounds, there is plenty of space for leisure, exercise, and creativity for children and young people aged 10 and up.
During the "open house" hours, visitors can play foosball, cook, billiards, or table tennis, or simply relax and chill. Alongside the open house, there are also specific, guided activities such as arts and crafts, cooking, sports, and holiday programs, concerts, children's films, and other events offered regularly.
Recording studio
Here, young people can get musically creative with professional equipment, produce their own songs, record podcasts or vocals, or simply experiment in this field. Anyone wishing to use or rent the recording studio can receive a "studio license" after an introductory session; this is required for use. In addition, a music and social education specialist from the youth center supports aspiring musicians and sound engineers during their first recordings, providing guidance on both the technical aspects and their creative process. Studio introductory sessions are generally held on Mondays from 7 to 9 pm.
Those with sufficient experience may use the recording studio without constant supervision after consulting with staff. With two rehearsal rooms and the newly renovated studio for young musicians, the "Freizi Alt-Aumund" youth center offers a real highlight for aspiring young musicians. During school holidays, the center hosts various music workshops, including songwriting, music production, and a pop choir. This fosters the creative interests of young people. Furthermore, every last Wednesday of the month features an "open stage": here, young people can present their own work in a safe environment and gain valuable (initial) stage experience.
