Advice and support for young refugees
Creating opportunities together for young people with refugee experience!
Since 2004, Fluchtraum Bremen e.V. has been working to support young refugees, enabling their social participation and integration. The organization offers counseling, arranges volunteer mentors and guardianships, and supports volunteers with training and guidance. Through close collaboration with authorities and partners, Fluchtraum is actively committed to child and youth protection and providing diversity-sensitive, anti-racist support.
With around 155 members and approximately 260 volunteers, Fluchtraum creates valuable structures for young people arriving in Bremen without family support. Whether mentoring, guardianship, Café Welcome!, MINTA*Raum, or learning partnerships – the organization's services provide concrete help in finding orientation, overcoming obstacles, and developing future prospects.
As a recognized provider of independent youth services, Fluchtraum receives institutional funding and actively participates in political debates through its memberships in the German Parity Welfare Association and the Federal Association of Unaccompanied Minor Refugees.
For many volunteers, their commitment is a matter of the heart: "I support young people on their journey in Bremen and Germany because no one should face such challenges alone. Together, we can overcome obstacles, strengthen (self-)confidence, and sometimes even realize dreams. At the same time, I learn so much myself – and it's simply a joy!"
Fluchtraum provides the ideal setting for this: exchange, advice and training for volunteers, as well as safe spaces and dedicated platforms for the young people. Especially in times of growing challenges, this work is indispensable – because every young person deserves a real chance at a future.
