Expertise in family law for over 45 years

The Interest Group for Maintenance and Family Law – ISUV eV – is a self-help organization of its members and is open to all those seeking help in the field of family and maintenance law.

The non-profit association has been working in all areas of family law for more than 45 years and, with approximately 5,000 members, is the largest nationwide family law association in the Federal Republic of Germany.

All work within the association is done on a voluntary basis. The association has been recognized as a non-profit organization by the Nuremberg Central Tax Office for many years and is registered in the Nuremberg District Court's register of associations under registration number 3569.

ISUV's statutory task is to promote information about and understanding of family policy and legal measures, as well as knowledge of their effects, in order to contribute to the general improvement of the legal situation in the area of family and maintenance law.

The aim is to protect those entitled to and obligated to pay maintenance, separated or divorced fathers and mothers, remarried fathers and mothers and their spouses, partners in non-marital cohabiting relationships and fathers of children born out of wedlock, as well as the children of the aforementioned group of people, from arbitrariness and discrimination in family and maintenance law through information and education.

The association was founded based on the experience that society often ignores the problems of separated and divorced people, partners in unmarried cohabiting relationships, and their children. This leads to numerous shortcomings in current family and maintenance law, child custody law, and the rulings of family courts.

The current system of taxing families and semi-detached families is unfair and inhumane. Families who were previously able to support themselves as "intact" families often become dependent on social welfare after separation and divorce.

Children who need both parents for healthy development are being deprived of one parent.

ISUV continues to call for fundamental reforms of current family and maintenance law, child custody law and related tax issues.
