Contact point for older migrants – Köprü
The Center for Migrant and Intercultural Studies (ZIS) was founded in 1981 as an independent, non-profit, and non-partisan organization. It is committed to promoting the integration of migrants living in Bremen while simultaneously respecting their cultural identities.
The ZIS has its office in Bremen-Gröpelingen and carries out intercultural community work in several districts, e.g. by organizing regular meeting places for all citizens in the neighborhoods as well as information events and advice for older people.
To incorporate the needs and requirements of older people with a migration background into its work, the contact point "Köprü" was established. Another focus of the ZIS since its founding has been language courses for diverse target groups.
The aim of the work is the exchange of information and networking, and the reduction of prejudices between people of different countries of origin, cultures, traditions, and religions. The ZIS is also a state-recognized provider of child and youth welfare services.
