Upcycling for teenagers and young adults
for interested individuals between 15 and 23 years old
Wednesdays, 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Location: In the open studio of the Bürgerzentrum Neue Vahr
In April, a new upcycling program for teenagers and young adults will launch at the Neue Vahr community center. Those interested, aged 15 to 23, can gain insights into designing, upcycling, and sewing their own fashion creations under the guidance of Jere Stoessel. The course is specifically aimed at beginners who have little or no prior experience with upcycling and would like to learn more about the craft.
Jere Stoessel, 20, who will be leading the "VAHRstoff – Upcycling for Young Adults" course, started sewing four years ago. Since then, he has been creating new garments from clothing belonging to his parents and friends. "I think the idea of designing something new from something old is fantastic," he says. He now wants to introduce the upcycling trend to teenagers and young adults in the Vahr district. "Upcycling is beginner-friendly; you can create something with just a few simple tricks," says the 20-year-old fashion enthusiast. The garments created during the upcycling course will be presented in a fashion show in September.
The course starts on April 2nd, 2025 and is free.
