Swiss Quarter
Structurally disadvantaged neighborhoods in Bremen have been significantly more affected by the coronavirus pandemic than others. Therefore, since March 1, 2021, the Bremen Senate has deployed healthcare professionals to 14 Bremen districts. These professionals supplement the "Living in Neighborhoods" (WiN) social urban development program.
The health professionals provide advice and information on questions related to COVID-19 as well as general health-related issues. They work closely with local stakeholders and existing networks to do this.
Their responsibilities include, among other things:
- Consulting services on Corona and health in the neighborhood
- Dissemination and communication of tailored health information
- Conducting (digital) information events
- Referral to health-related services
- Support or (co-)initiation of health-related services / projects
- Participation in neighborhood-based networks and collaboration with local stakeholders
- Assessment of health-related needs
The goals of the project are:
- Strengthening the health literacy of residents
- Tailor-made information on hygiene and infection control measures
- Mitigating the health effects caused by Corona
The project "Healthcare Professionals in Bremen Neighborhoods" is funded by the Bremen Fund and overseen by the Senator for Health, Women and Consumer Protection. The State Association for Health and Academy for Social Medicine of Lower Saxony (Landesvereinigung für Gesundheit und Akademie für Sozialmedizin Niedersachsen e.V.) is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the project.
If you have any questions, please contact your local healthcare professional.
