Playing together – learning from each other
Empowering children and building self-confidence is close to the heart of the SOS Children's Village.
And this applies not only to the SOS Children's Village in Worpswede, but also to the family-supporting open services in Bremen-North.
Thus, the lunch service of the SOS Children's Village Worpswede in the Grohner Düne has developed into a permanent institution as an open offer for children and young people who are in transition between primary and secondary school.
This also includes children from the fourth grade onwards who, for various reasons, cannot use after-school care.
With our program, we create a daily meeting place for around 20 self-motivated children and young people after school, where we involve them and thereby create an atmosphere in which they feel accepted, valued and a part of the community.
Here, not only is there a midday snack every day after school, but also a wide range of leisure activities such as creative offerings, group games, intercultural cooking, homework support and weekly football training with coaches from Werder Bremen as part of the "Spielraum" project.
The educational lunch program helps children and young people to test and learn about their own strengths and weaknesses.
The four pillars of the SOS lunch program – education, nutrition, exercise, and creative activities – are designed to help children grow, strengthen them, and support their development.
Together with the partners of the Grohner Düne social area, we create cross-target group programs that include children, their parents and families.
