Practical help for families after childbirth in central, eastern and northern Germany
wellcome offers practical support for families after the birth of a child. This individualized family support service, originally founded in Hamburg, has also been available in Bremen since January 2009.
Volunteer helpers are active in almost all districts of Bremen to support families.
A professionally relevant education is not necessarily required for participation, but rather a willingness to engage in social activities, social competence and love for children.
Individual family support
Wellcome support takes the form of care for newborns or their siblings. During this time, volunteers are available to the family once or twice a week. After their initial support period, wellcome volunteers can decide how soon they would like to support a new family.
The Bremen wellcome team currently consists of 20 volunteers and coordinator Sabine Schlüter.
