Welcome to the Family Folder

Parents of newborns receive the "Welcome to the Family" folder from their pediatrician during the third routine check-up (U3). It offers practical everyday support for the first six months with a baby. The folder is not only a gift in which documents such as the maternity record, child health booklet, etc., can be stored, but it also contains a link to our information page, which informs parents during the first six months with their baby about important things to know and activities for children in the city.

  • The WiF folder ("Welcome to the Family") is a colorful, practical information package for parents of newborns in the city of Bremen. It contains useful information, important checklists, and space for all the important documents related to the baby. The WiF website provides you with all the information you need for the first six months with your baby in Bremen.

  • In Bremen, parents of newborns automatically receive the WiF folder free of charge during the third routine check-up (U3) at their pediatrician's office. Alternatively, you can simply ask for the WiF folder there – you will receive it until your child is six months old.

  • No, the folder is free for parents with newborns in the city of Bremen.

  • Parents can find digital information about family-friendly facilities and meeting places, formalities and applications (e.g. birth certificate, child benefit, parental leave), health and counseling centers, leisure activities and counselling options in special life situations using the QR code or via the website.

  • Parents who have recently moved to Bremen can obtain the WiF folder from their pediatrician's office until their child is six months old. The Bremen Family Network can provide further assistance with any questions.
