Reliable childcare refers to services where children are cared for and accompanied by (constant) caregivers.

Use the calendar function and select the desired day or period. This allows you to choose a single appointment or an entire week. Weekly offers are usually only bookable on a weekly basis, meaning the costs for the entire period must be paid.

Every child is different and has different needs. Think together with your child about what they would like to do. Parents should consider their financial resources and whether the child can manage the journey alone or if they need to be dropped off and picked up. Children and teenagers have the opportunity to try new things.

The Bremen holiday compass offers four different categories that can make the selection easier:

• Creativity (cultural and creative offerings, e.g. art, music, theatre, programming, etc.)
• Exercise (sporting activities such as ball sports, climbing, dancing or acrobatics)
• Knowledge (offerings for new and additional learning, e.g. programming, languages, environment, technology)
• Travel (leisure activities, camps and excursions, etc.)

Registration is exclusively through the provider. Please understand that some holiday programs are fully booked well in advance – even if the registration period has not yet ended.

Full-day childcare means at least five hours of reliable care, often more. You can also look for options that only take place in the morning or afternoon, for example, if your child is already independent enough or if it simply fits well with your (work) schedule.

Using the filter option, you can select your district and/or adjacent districts and/or districts that are easily accessible for your child.

Yes, parents with children with disabilities can specifically search for holiday programs and obtain further information from the providers. Most programs are designed to be inclusive.

Families with limited financial resources can use the Bremen holiday compass to specifically search for free or low-cost activities. Use the "Cost" filter function for this purpose.

For people with low incomes, there are also various ways to receive subsidies or discounts. Helpful information, for example about the Education and Participation Package, can be found under "Useful Links." Also, check with your child's school to see if they offer holiday care organized by the school and if there are any discounts, for example through the school association. Or contact the facility directly. Often there are ways to reduce the fees.
