Children aged 0-3 | Early intervention services

There are many services available for parents from pregnancy onwards and for families with children up to three years old. Professionals from various fields work closely together to support parents in the care and development of their children. These services are called "Early Help." You can also find important information about the first six months with a baby under "Welcome to the Family"!

  • Early intervention services are free support programs for expectant parents and families with children aged 0-3 years.
They are designed to make everyday life easier and provide security.

  • All families who would like support – whether it's for their first child or their third. There are no prerequisites.

  • The counselling and support centers usually employ teams consisting of, for example, social workers, (family) midwives, psychologists, family health and pediatric nurses, and social workers.

  • For example, they offer advice on all aspects of parenthood, support after birth, and guidance when you're feeling uncertain or stressed. They provide information on your child's health, development, and nutrition. You can also find contacts for courses, midwives, and family services here.

  • Yes! Early support services are also intended for small questions. Many parents say: "It was good that I had someone I could quickly ask."

  • The first step is to visit your pediatrician to determine why your child is crying. The Parent-Baby Clinic (ZePP) offers emotional first aid for parents and babies in crisis situations—for example, persistent crying, tension, or parental exhaustion. Early intervention centers or midwives can also provide initial support.

  • You will usually receive the folder at your child's third check-up, exclusively from your pediatrician. If you haven't received the folder yet, please ask at your doctor's office. If there are other reasons or you are new to Bremen, please contact the Bremen Family Network.
