Mental, emotional/psychological and physical health are important for all age groups and family members: Health-promoting and preventive services as well as health advice centers offer information and assistance.

  • If you can't get a doctor's appointment in Bremen or can't find a suitable doctor's office, you can contact the on-call medical service or use the appointment service of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians. They will help you find available appointments. Health insurance companies also offer advice on suitable practices. For acute symptoms, the on-call medical service can be reached 24/7 at 116 117.

  • For acute illnesses, you can contact your pediatrician's office or call the on-call pediatric service: 116 117. In emergencies, the ambulance service or the pediatric emergency department (KINA) or urgent care clinic is responsible. Some practices also offer telephone or telemedicine consultations.

  • In Bremen, there are specialized counseling centers, self-help groups, and medical care networks. Your family doctor or pediatrician can inform you about suitable resources.

  • For children, adolescents, or parents experiencing emotional distress, counseling centers, therapists, and crisis services are available. Initial consultations are often possible at short notice, for example, through the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Counseling Center and Outpatient Clinic (KIPSY). This center supports children and adolescents up to the age of 17 who have emotional problems, and their families.

  • There are numerous courses and programs on exercise, nutrition, relaxation, and stress management for children and adults. Many take place in the neighborhood, are free of charge, or are subsidized by health insurance companies.

  • If your child is sick, they should stay home to recover and protect others. It's often necessary to inform the daycare or school immediately. For longer illnesses, conversations with the daycare or school, or seeking advice from counseling services, can provide support.

  • Care support centers, social counseling services, and respite care programs offer support in stressful situations. They provide advice on benefits, assistance, and next steps. Special services are available for family caregivers.

  • In the city's neighborhoods, you'll find advice centers, health and sports programs, and other support services you can use. Many sports clubs offer classes and meetups.
