We encourage students from families without higher education experience to be the first in their family to attend university.
6,000 volunteers across Germany are active in 80 local ArbeiterKind.de groups, informing students about university studies and supporting them on their journey from starting university to successful graduation and career entry. Most of our volunteers are themselves first-generation students or graduates who share their own experiences of upward social mobility through education and serve as role models.
- Are you considering studying – maybe, yes or no, or perhaps?
- You're interested, but you don't yet know how, what, or where?
- Are you already studying, but have questions about financing your studies, scholarships, student jobs, internships or stays abroad?
- No one in your family has ever gone to university and you don't know who to turn to with your questions?
We provide voluntary support for all questions related to your studies.

We can then arrange a phone appointment and/or you can come to our meeting. It's every third Monday of the month at 7:00 pm. Currently, we decide at short notice whether we meet in person or online/hybrid via Zoom. We use a room at Bremen University of Applied Sciences, Werderstraße 73, room A18 (Neustadt/Planetarium), and Zoom.
