The Bremen Women's Committee (Bremer Frauenausschuss e. V. – Landesfrauenrat Bremen) is the umbrella organization of currently 44 women's organizations and groups in the state of Bremen. It works in a non-partisan and non-denominational manner to implement equality between women and men.
We are the Bremen State Women's Council – the largest voluntary women's association in the state of Bremen, and we demand nothing less than gender equality – in all areas of life!
Equality is promised to us in Article 3 of the Basic Law – but it has not yet been implemented. That is why we are working together to fight for our rights. We – that is currently 37 associations from Bremen and Bremerhaven – clubs, organizations, women's groups, political parties, trade unions; as well as individuals and supporting members.
We have joined forces under the umbrella of the State Women's Council because together we can achieve the most. We make our voices heard in politics and society, promote networking among our members, and provide impetus on socio-political issues. As the civic voice of Bremen's women, we build bridges to the Senate, the City Council, the Parliament, and the Bremen Central Office for the Realization of Women's Equality (ZGF).
We ensure that the proposals of our member associations are incorporated into policy at the state and federal levels after appropriate resolutions have been passed by the delegates' assembly.
The Bremen State Women's Council – Bremen Women's Committee e. V. was founded in 1946 and thus stands in a long tradition. We carry on the legacy of our pioneers. Silence is a thing of the past – together we stand up against patriarchal structures and will not rest until we have achieved equality.
Our strength is solidarity – women in Bremen and Bremerhaven, we are calling you – join us!
