The Bürgerhaus Hemelingen eV is the central cultural and social institution in the Hemelingen district. Around 60,000 visitors with diverse interests come here each year and take advantage of the numerous cultural events, concerts, theatre performances, courses and further education opportunities.
The task of the community center is to strengthen the cultural and artistic independence of the people in the district, as well as to contribute to the self-organization and self-responsibility of initiatives and cultural projects;
- to integrate artistic forms of production, mediation and appropriation into everyday culture and to facilitate access to culture and art for as many people as possible;
- to support the integration of different age groups, social classes and nationalities through cultural activities and thus contribute to cultural exchange within society;
- Likewise, to promote and seek out an understanding of emancipatory cultural practices that aim to help people develop and try out their own ideas of a successful life
