The first months and years of a child's life are of paramount importance for their development. Therefore, we support (expectant) parents in shaping a positive relationship with their child and keeping a close eye on their child's development.

The Early Intervention Center South has been operating since 2013, a successful collaboration between the SOS Children's Village Bremen and the South Parenting Advice Center of the Office for Social Services. Specially trained staff provide free advice and support to (expectant) parents with infants and toddlers up to three years old, without the need for an application or referral.
Topics include, for example, breastfeeding and feeding; crying, restlessness, and sleep problems in infants; family worries and lack of support networks; settling into daycare; psychological adjustment problems after birth; defiance or anxious behavior in toddlers, and much more.
The consultation is subject to confidentiality.
With the opening of the new Huckelriede neighborhood center in October 2016, the South Early Intervention Center moved its permanent location to the new building at Niedersachsendamm 20a. There, as well as at the SOS Children's Village Center at Friedrich-Ebert-Straße 101 and at the South Social Center's Family Counseling Center at Große Sortillienstraße 2-18, parents can access numerous services.
Parent-child groups, baby meetups for newborns and parents, open midwife consultations, various lectures, individual parenting and education advice and parenting courses or baby massage – the range of services offered by the early intervention center in the south of Bremen is diverse and is constantly being expanded.
In lovingly furnished rooms, (expectant) mothers and fathers can receive individual consultations (also available at home upon request) or participate in one of the numerous group activities. This applies equally to couples and single parents. To ensure that people of all nationalities can take advantage of the extensive range of services, the dedicated staff members can provide interpreters as needed.
The team consists of two social workers, two psychologists, a midwife, and a childcare worker. There is also a collaboration with a family midwife from the public health department.
