The Hanse midwives of Bremen will accompany you through pregnancy and postpartum
Pregnancy and life with a child change your life. It's a very emotional time full of dreams, expectations, and joy, but also uncertainties. As medical professionals, we accompany and support you and your child throughout pregnancy and the postpartum period. We do not offer delivery services.
The unique aspect of our work lies in empowering you through the combination of evidence-based medicine and support for your mental and emotional well-being during this special phase of life.
We therefore work holistically and based on sound medical knowledge, reflecting the latest scientific advancements. We respect the individuality of each pregnancy, recognize emerging problems, and act accordingly.
Our services for (expectant) families in Bremen
Our services include advisory and practical support throughout pregnancy and the postpartum period. Not during childbirth, but before and after.
All services provided by a midwife during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period are covered by statutory health insurance.
For privately insured women, the midwife bills the pregnant woman directly according to the private midwife fee schedule of the respective federal state. It is advisable to clarify coverage with the private health insurance company before the first contact with the midwife.
It's also important to know that an initial consultation with a midwife can only be billed once per pregnancy. If you have already met a midwife in person, a second midwife cannot bill your health insurance company for the initial consultation. This will then be billed to you privately (€76.62 – as of March 2023).
We offer prenatal care and postnatal support, complemented by our childbirth preparation and postpartum recovery courses.
Course offerings before and after pregnancy
Various courses can complement individual support around the time of birth. Our group offerings provide opportunities to connect with other parents.
The childbirth preparation courses either comprise 7 sessions of 2 hours each or take place as part of an intensive course on the weekend.
You should start a postpartum recovery course 8-10 weeks after your birth (a little later if it was a cesarean section).
