Committed to helping children, young people and families
For over 30 years, we have been providing inpatient and outpatient support services for children, young people, and their families in and around Bremen. We place a special focus on young pregnant women and mothers, supporting them with both inpatient and outpatient services. We also provide therapeutic and educational support to young people, as well as mobile residential care.
The goal is always to work together with young people to ensure they receive precisely the support that will enable them to lead independent lives in the long run. We work towards this goal – with experience, qualified staff, and a strong network – throughout the city of Bremen and the district of Osterholz-Scharmbeck.
Recognized youth welfare provider with experience
We are a recognized provider of youth services and have been a member of the Paritätische Wohlfahrtsverband (Parity Welfare Association) since 1986. Under the name Kriz – Bremer Zentrum für Jugend- und Erwachsenenhilfe e. V. (Bremen Center for Youth and Adult Welfare), we have been offering inpatient and outpatient services for children and young people and their families since 1986.
Since 1991, a key focus of our work has been providing support for young pregnant women and mothers – both on an outpatient and inpatient basis. In 2014, we added therapeutic and educational support for young people, and in 2015, we began offering inpatient mobile support for adolescents.
We currently provide outpatient support to over 100 young people and families, as well as inpatient care for up to 58 people in our facilities. We operate from seven neighborhood offices, which organize outpatient support for all of Bremen and the Osterholz-Scharmbeck district.
The inpatient facilities are located in Vegesack, Gröpelingen, Fedelhören and Osterdeich.
The office, where everything comes together, is located in a central city location: Außer der Schleifmühle 55–61.
The current offering includes the following areas:
- outpatient care for families, adolescents and young adults
- intensive support for families in crisis situations (crisis service)
- inpatient care for young pregnant women and mothers in one house
- Inpatient and outpatient care for mothers or fathers and their children (including in an apartment building)
- Residential care for young people in apartments owned by the provider
- therapeutic residential group
- Prevention project Baby Think Time
We maintain close cooperations with other non-profit organizations – for example within the framework of DAS Familien-Netz – and are active in the professional association IGFH as well as in the Paritätische Erziehungshilfenetz.
Furthermore, Kriz e. V. is one of three shareholders of JUS – Bremer Jugendhilfe und Soziale Arbeit gGmbH and Bremer Kinder- und Jugendhilfe gGmbH.
All our staff members work respectfully and on equal footing with the young people, taking a systemic perspective. In all areas, we value continuous professional development, expert consultation, and supervision. Weekly team meetings are as much a part of our teams' routine as thorough peer consultation.
