Whether readings, discussion series, or workshops – here you'll find everything the Bremen Literature House has to offer in one place. Our media library also offers a wealth of audio and written literature. There's plenty for young literature enthusiasts to discover as well. And anyone interested in writing should regularly check out our calls for submissions and take a look at our writers' grant program.

The Bremen Literature House 

  • supports aspiring and established Bremen authors in their work through advice, organization and finances
  • supports emerging authors in developing their writing skills through monthly or bi-weekly writing workshops
  • supports Bremen authors in the public presentation of their work
  • promotes the professionalization of younger authors
  • It offers authors a platform in various formats and makes literature accessible to the local scene
  • offers numerous workshops for young and old
  • imparts high-level writing skills as part of the teaching assignments for creative writing at the University of Bremen
  • is involved in the organization and awarding of the Bremen Author's Grant as well as the execution of the associated prize-winner readings
  • is a cooperation partner in many smaller literary events that enrich Bremen's literary life, as well as in those large events that bring authors from across the region to Bremen
  • has been cooperating with other Bremen cultural institutions for many years on various events and projects
  • Through intensive press work, it creates publicity for various literary events in the daily and monthly press, on its own website, with a 14-day newsletter and via Facebook and Instagram

Young Literature House

At the Young Literature House you'll find our program for children, teenagers, families, school classes and kindergarten groups. Because we're sure of one thing: the sooner you discover literature, the better!
