District: Osterholz

The Blockdiek Neighborhood Education Centre (QBZ) has the task of improving educational opportunities in the Blockdiek district for children aged 0 to 12 and their parents, taking into account the specific circumstances of the district.

This makes the QBZ an education-oriented neighborhood center with three main areas of focus:

  • Strengthening low-threshold counselling services,
  • Development, acquisition and offering of education-related courses and events, as well as
  • Networking and promotion of cooperation in the district and the Osterholz borough.

The QBZ's event and consultation rooms are located on the grounds of the Düsseldorfer Straße all-day primary school.

The following events are currently taking place there:

  • Courses and advice on pregnancy and early childhood; cooperation partners include family midwives, course instructors and the Blockdiek Mothers' Center
  • Advice for families provided by the Office for Social Services
  • Parent training courses led by family educators from the Hans-Wendt Foundation
  • Integration courses from other providers
  • Social group work for children
  • Open programs for parents and their children, father-child courses

Network & Cooperations

The QBZ's event and consultation rooms are located on the grounds of the Düsseldorfer Straße all-day elementary school. The QBZ maintains a close partnership with the school.

In working groups and the QBZ project group, the QBZ management has the task of addressing and consolidating social and educational issues and developing joint solutions with the network.

The network consists of representatives from all institutions and initiatives working with children and their parents in the district. Regular working groups, workshops, and planning days are held for this purpose.
Close cooperation partners also include the Senator for Education, the Hemelingen-Osterholz Social Center, the Advisory Board, and the Osterholz Local Office.

The QBZ management currently also has the task of carrying out the neighborhood management in the flanked WiN area Blockdiek in the program "Living in Neighborhoods".
