View every crisis as an opportunity for change

Today's society is characterized by cultural and social diversity, but also by a progressive pluralization of lifestyles.

This entails a wide range of potential problems. Consequently, people often struggle with a variety of issues. To support as many of them as possible, the Second Chance counseling center offers a comprehensive range of services.

Everyone's life can involve difficult situations and phases. Those affected often perceive these difficult life situations as personal crises. Rarely do those affected know how to resolve their crisis.

At first glance, it may seem paradoxical, but every crisis also presents an opportunity for change. Crises allow us to reflect on our behavior and our current situation, draw conclusions, and initiate necessary changes.

We would like to support you with these changes.

The work of the Second Chance counselling center includes three levels of prevention:

  • Primary prevention
  • Secondary prevention
  • Tertiary prevention

Primary prevention

At the Second Chance counseling center in Bremen, primary prevention aims, among other things, to prevent future dangers, boundary violations, and crimes by strengthening social skills. By uncovering conditions that promote violence and boundary violations, as well as potential risk factors, change becomes possible. Participants are empowered to interact appropriately and competently in social situations. In particular, the focus is on strengthening participants—that is, promoting their general abilities and skills.

Secondary prevention

Secondary prevention begins when acute boundary violations or crimes have already occurred. Consequently, work is carried out with this specific target group. The overarching goal is to raise awareness of the ongoing boundary violation. This awareness aims to bring about a change in behavior and thus an end to the boundary violations.

Tertiary prevention

Tertiary prevention is aimed at those who have already committed cross-border offenses or crimes. The goal of tertiary prevention is to prevent further cross-border offenses or crimes.
