District: Vegesack

Gustav-Heinemann-Community Center

The Gustav Heinemann Community Center in the heart of Vegesack is as colorful and diverse as the district itself. People of all ages meet here – for a quick chat in the cafeteria or at one of the many activities that staff and users create every day.

There are the courses offered by the local adult education center Bremen-Nord, as well as the meetings of the most diverse groups that have "their home" in the community center.

The in-house Circus Tohuwabohu turns hundreds of children into little stage stars every year. And while the focus of the senior citizens' creative group is on activities for older residents, media enthusiasts aged 9 to 99 experiment with productions for short films, radio, and much more at the "Bürgerhaus medial" (community center).

There is also plenty to experience culturally in the community center: In the small "hall", the studio stage, for example the Statt-Theater Vegesack provides dramatic moments and the First Lesum Television provides special cinema experiences.

Furthermore, established artists also take center stage at the venue: the modern concert hall can accommodate up to 600 culture enthusiasts and is also used for large parties in the neighborhood. The Gustav Heinemann Civic Center was opened in 1977.
