In the immediate vicinity of the training ship Deutschland, a project was created in the listed former Lange warehouse that retells the maritime history of whaling, as well as the work and achievements of the legendary shipbuilder Johann Lange and his family.
Dedicated amateur actors slip into different roles to provide an insight into the former lives of Greenland explorers at various locations.
Currently, the Vegesack Story House employs 20 people in various subsidized employment arrangements. Their responsibilities include admissions and booking, participating in guided tours, and numerous tasks in event services and catering.
In addition, a creative workshop has been set up where costumes and accessories are sewn. The team is supported by numerous volunteers.
