Following the motto "provide, don't discard," the Bremen Food Bank (Bremer Tafel e.V.) was founded in May 1995. Since approximately 25 percent of all edible food produced ends up in the trash, the Bremen Food Bank has made it its mission to collect surplus food and distribute it to needy citizens.
The Bremen Food Bank is recognized as a non-profit and charitable organization. Its work is carried out on a non-partisan, non-denominational, and international basis.
We are a member of the Federal Association of Food Banks Germany (Bundesverband Tafel Deutschland eV).
Currently, over 350 households in need visit our distribution centers daily, meaning that over 7,000 people – men, women, and children – receive food from the Bremen Food Bank. Through our cooperation with various social service organizations in Bremen, we indirectly support many more people in need.
