Developing solutions together with your own network

Families can need support in a wide variety of situations – for example, during separation, the death of a parent, or other changes within the family. Difficulties at school or daycare can also be an issue. A family council can be a good way to find good solutions for the children.

The family council is a meeting where families, together with friends, family members, and other important people, find their own solutions. Some families contact the coordinators themselves, while others are referred to the family council by institutions such as the youth welfare office, the school, or the daycare center.

Target audience

Family councils can be used when families want to develop their own solutions to difficult life situations. Parents, children and young people, grandparents, neighbors, teachers, educators, etc., can request a family council and organize and conduct it together with the family.

premises

The family council can take place flexibly in various locations, such as the premises of the outpatient teams or in the families' homes.

focus

On the day of the family council, the family and their network jointly develop a plan with solutions for the future. The family decides who participates – supported by neutral coordinators.

The diverse people at the table bring new ideas and perspectives, allowing for a solution tailored to the individual family. This process often also reveals new support options within the network.

The Family Council project is being implemented in cooperation with the Office for Social Services.
