The Family Support Service (FUD) is there for families who care for a family member (adult or child) with a disability or at risk of developing a disability. FUD is an outpatient service that offers family members the opportunity for temporary respite, allowing them to, for example, attend to family obligations, recharge their batteries, enjoy leisure time, and similar needs.
Our facility is funded by Aktion Mensch and is still under development. Currently, we offer recreational activities for adults and children with severe and multiple disabilities at the Scharmbeckstotel Riding and Driving Club – "Fun at the Riding Stable" – as a regular and reliable group activity centered around horses, lasting approximately three hours. Please refer to our concept document for more detailed information.
Recreational activities at the riding stable cost €20 per hour and can be billed through the additional care and relief benefits provided by long-term care insurance (§45 SGB XI). All insured individuals with care levels 1 to 5 and limitations in their everyday competence are eligible. Eligible individuals are entitled to a relief allowance of €215 per month.
Further group leisure activities are currently being planned. We are also awaiting approval from the authorities for certain respite care services, such as daily support and accompaniment for people with disabilities (adults and children), as well as hourly support and respite care for their family members in the home. These services aim to strengthen families' self-reliance and support people with disabilities in developing practical life skills, personal growth, and independence.
