for young people aged 13-18
FreD “Early intervention for first-time drug users” is aimed at young people and adolescents aged between 13 and 18 who consume legal and illegal drugs, such as cannabis, and have therefore come to the attention of the police in school and training, in the family or also in the police.
Participation in a FreD course can be voluntary or through the initiative of other persons or institutions (parents, school, youth welfare office, police, etc.).
The young people contact us by phone, and we promptly arrange an initial meeting. Afterwards, they can participate in an 8-hour group program (4-12 participants) led by certified FreD trainers. The sessions take place monthly on two consecutive afternoons, each lasting 4 hours.
This short-term intervention, through the use of motivational interviewing and a focus on solutions and resources, can bring about lasting changes in the participants' consumption behavior and thus prevent addiction and dependency.
FreD develops risk competence in the young people affected by teaching them to critically reflect on their consumption, to gain knowledge about risks and legal aspects, and to support each other in a peer-to-peer context in ending or reducing their consumption.
In Bremen, FreD is funded by the Senator for Health and is a free service for all participants. The ZSB offers FreD in cooperation with the Bremen Outpatient Addiction Support Service (for adults).
