Support in dealing with the social psychiatric care and/or addiction support system
Do you want your concerns to be taken seriously and heard? Do you want to clarify something regarding your therapy, care, facility, or service? Do you want to file a complaint? Do you feel disadvantaged or discriminated against because of your illness or current condition? Do you need support from your service providers or other official bodies?
We are here to help: independent advocacy and complaints offices of the community psychiatric networks (GPV) in the Bremen regions of Mitte, Nord, Ost, Süd, West as well as in Bremerhaven.
For whom?
Our free service is aimed at all people with mental health challenges, mental and/or addiction disorders, or who are going through difficult times in their lives. It doesn't matter whether you already have experience with the social psychiatric care or addiction support system or are just now seeking help.
You are also welcome to contact us as family members, friends, and employees.
Why we can do this
Because we advocates know from our own experience severe crises, mental health challenges, and/or addictions. We understand exactly how difficult it can be in some situations to be heard and to assert one's own needs and rights.
On our personal journeys through crisis management, we (EX-IN recovery companions and peers) have learned about helpful strategies and resources. We are well-connected and know that everyone sometimes simply needs support.
How we will support you:
- We are here for you if you need some time to sort out your thoughts
- We take our time, listen to you, and treat your request with strict confidentiality: we are bound by professional secrecy
- We will plan together with you whether and how we will proceed
- We will only become active at your request, your "action order"
- We will advocate for you and support you in making your voice heard and/or filing a complaint
- We are here to support you in asserting your rights and interests at the appropriate level.
Issues that are causing you distress are brought to the attention of various expert committees through us – naturally, anonymously, as confidentiality and data protection are of paramount importance to us. By contacting us, you are helping to improve social psychiatric and addiction support services.
The Community Psychiatric Networks (GPV) Central, East, North, South and West are collaborations of social psychiatric and addiction support providers in the city of Bremen.
The cooperation partners have committed themselves to ensuring needs-based treatment and care for those affected in their respective regions. The "independent advocacy and complaints offices" are anchored in the GPV (General Patient Care) as points of contact within the framework of quality management.
