A long year is drawing to a close… Zoom conferences and digital working groups, cancelled events and meetings with 3G – our heads were often spinning. And we knew that many families felt the same way.
Because what many families had to do while juggling care work, working from home, homeschooling, and the everyday madness was a whole lot!
We have spoken with many parents who are under severe strain due to the Corona pandemic: job loss, existential hardship and lack of childcare, the withdrawal of teenagers into solitude, the failed start to a new training, worries about the health of relatives and other experiences have become a real test this year.
Together we are a little stronger!
We realize that being there for each other and caring for each other is what we truly want from family. Whether across generations or as a nuclear family, whether a blended, rainbow, or single-parent family, whether with friends, in the neighborhood, in a club, or in a shared apartment – family is wherever we take responsibility for each other, regardless of how family is defined and lived out.
With our Bremen family blog, we've already collected initial stories in 2021 that aim to strengthen family cohesion and encourage people to listen to problems and conflicts, accept support, and make available resources more visible. In this way, we want to give families and family life more public space and importance, while simultaneously promoting social cohesion in all its diversity.
Exchange and exciting new stories from Bremen
In 2021, we were again in contact with many professionals who deal with families, parents, young people and children and who were keen – and even found the time – to write great posts for our blog.
We already have some exciting stories from Bremen to share at the start of the year and would love to hear more from people who share their experiences at their workplace or in their daily work. Just get in touch!
Anja Lohse & Barbara Peper and the entire team at familiennetz bremen wish you all relaxing and healthy holidays and a happy end to the year!
