As a mother, I remember vividly how the birth of your first child completely transforms your life. Many previously unknown questions, anxieties, and wonderful moments enter the lives of new parents. This is perfectly normal. It's crucial to receive support during this new phase of life to prepare for the changes and life as a family.
I am therefore pleased to introduce you to the Bremen family blog with its three categories: “Becoming a family”, “All family? Of course!” and “Games, fun and excitement”.
Many of you are familiar with the Bremen Family Network, where you can find information about services and contact persons for a wide variety of life situations. The family blog complements this resource. Professionals from numerous Bremen institutions post on the family blog about diverse topics, offering tips and suggestions for parents and those who work with children.
category "Becoming a Family" offers blog posts about birth and the beginning of new life as a family. This is complemented by the newly designed "Welcome to the Family" folder, which you will usually receive, packed with important information, during your child's U3 check-up with the pediatrician.
Families are as diverse and colorful as a rainbow. Besides close and distant relatives, they often include many other people who care for the children and are important to them. The category "All Family? Of course!" reflects this diversity. Here you'll find not only articles about the variety of families, from rainbow families and blended families to separated or single parents, but also articles about the many different aspects of family life with older children and teenagers.
One of my favorite tasks as Senator for Social Affairs is opening playgrounds. Play is the best form of early childhood development, it's fun, and it often marks the beginning of lifelong friendships. Whether it's physical games, brain games, or games of skill – all of these support the development of mind and soul and the acquisition of skills. That's why I'm delighted about the "Play, Fun, and Excitement", where you can find tips on playgrounds as well as play and craft ideas.
By the way: What's special about this family blog is that behind every post are people you can meet in person, who can advise you locally in the city of Bremen. So you don't have to wait for new posts; simply contact the bloggers directly.
If topics that are important to you and that you care about are missing from the family blog, write an email to Familiennetz Bremen or get in touch via Instagram or Facebook . It's important to know what you'd like to read about.
