Better coping with life's unique challenges

Having a chronically ill child in the family places a heavy burden on everyone involved. In this situation, we can make things much easier: We provide advice and information to children and young people with type 1 diabetes and other chronic illnesses, as well as their parents and caregivers.

We also provide helpful tips for daily life with the illness and offer opportunities for mutual exchange of experiences. With our many years of experience, we show parents, children, and teenagers how to successfully integrate their respective therapies into everyday life.

We help with applications for assistance services in kindergarten and school or for severely disabled person's identity cards, with obtaining a driver's license and with choosing an apprenticeship.

In addition, we offer parenting training based on the Dolphin Program and parent discussion groups. Upon request, we can connect parents, children, and teenagers with self-help organizations and our volunteer program, FUGE. And most importantly: we take plenty of time to address your individual questions.

To ensure quality, we cooperate with these institutions:

  • Professor Hess Children's Hospital, Bremen-Mitte Hospital
  • Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at Bremen-North Hospital
  • German Diabetes Aid – People with Diabetes
  • Health Department and Education Authority
  • Daycare centers and schools

Furthermore, we regularly participate in quality circles, working groups, congresses and training courses.
