Association of youth organizations active at the state level
The Bremen Youth Ring is an association of youth organizations active at the state level, with the aim of promoting self-determined, creative and collaborative action by children and young people in Bremen.
We support the diverse voluntary work of young people to secure the future of a social and democratic society. Our goal is to give children and young people in the state of Bremen a voice and to represent their interests in the best possible way at all levels.
Our work focuses on the following areas:
umbrella organization
We are an alliance of your youth associations.
- We represent the positions of 23 member associations to the public – especially to the Senate, the Parliament, the political parties and the authorities.
- We unite the interests of youth associations and facilitate exchange at various levels, enabling us to present a unified stance and issue joint statements. Through this role as a central point of contact and mediator, we empower youth associations and offer you the opportunity to obtain comprehensive information and formulate common goals.
- Our volunteer board represents the diversity of the associations and advises and acts in their interests.
Advocacy
We are your lobby in the state of Bremen.
- We also represent young people in Bremen and Bremerhaven in general.
- Through our representation in various committees, especially in the youth welfare committees, we exert a concrete influence on youth legislation and its financial and legal framework.
- We take a stand on youth, education and social policy issues and represent these both externally and internally.
- We provide information and facilitate a broad (expert) discourse on topics relevant to youth policy.
- We develop quality standards for both children's and youth travel as well as for the Juleica (Youth Leader Card) and update them regularly.
Political education
We help you make your voice heard.
- Through our work, we promote the involvement of young people in many areas of society, and in particular, the participation of young people in political processes.
- By supporting and organizing projects, creativity and engagement are fostered. Seminars and workshops aim to make democracy and politics tangible for children and young people.
- We develop a wide variety of educational programs and offer them regularly in different formats.
Tent and equipment rental
We lend you tents and all sorts of equipment.
- The Bremen Youth Council operates its own tent and equipment depot in the Volkshaus (Hans-Böckler-Straße in Bremen). From button-making machines and various types of tents for youth camps to projectors, PA systems, and GPS devices, there is a wide range of equipment available for youth associations and initiatives (including sports clubs, etc.) in Bremen.
youth projects
Political apathy? Disinterest? Lack of engagement? – all just rumors when you look at the many youth projects in which young people from Bremen spend their free time, contributing and representing their wishes and interests.
Europe
Far-reaching decisions are made at the European level that affect our everyday lives in Europe. Issues such as data protection, the climate crisis, consumer issues, and educational opportunities no longer stop at national borders but are discussed and shaped within a European context.
With its focus on Europe, the Bremen Youth Council addresses this development. We identify places where you can find information about current European youth policy and understand Europe with its institutions and structures. Furthermore, through the EU Youth Dialogue, we highlight opportunities to participate in and shape discussions.
Political education
Interested in learning?! We want to help you understand the world around us a little better, so we can be more actively involved in it.
How about…
- … our educational programs, with which we empower young people (e.g. youth groups, school classes and other interested parties) on a wide variety of topics.
- …democratic engagement, because learning requires practice and civil society needs you. We'll show you how to "make a difference"!
Our services are increasingly available online. Just ask us about it.
Juleica
With Juleica training, you can prepare yourself to, for example, organize your own projects, open spaces independently, lead groups, or accompany youth camps as a team member. The Youth Leader Card serves as proof of qualification. You must be 16 years old to participate in Juleica training (exception: 15 years old).
The training covers topics such as project planning, legal foundations, methods and games are tried out together, the dynamics of groups are explored, and much more.
The updated quality standards for Juleica training in Bremen provide an overview of the topics. Each association offering Juleica training supplements this with its own areas of focus.
