The Bremen State Association of the German Scouts and Guides (Bund der Pfadfinderinnen und Pfadfinder, Landesverband Bremen e.V.) is an interdenominational, coeducational, and politically independent youth organization. In Bremen and Bremerhaven, we are present with seven local groups, known as "Tribes," reaching nearly 300 children, teenagers, and young adults. Scouting engages the whole person. Physical, practical, and artistic activities are just as much a part of it as living in nature, engaging with society and the environment, and meeting Scouts from all over the world. This diversity offers everyone the opportunity to contribute their skills and knowledge and to learn from others.
To ensure age-appropriate activities, we divide our members into different age groups, each with its own focus and goals. The youngest Scouts are called Cubs, are between seven and eleven years old, and live in packs. Scouts aged twelve to fifteen live in patrols. At this level, a patrol is a small group of six to eight children and young people. Rangers and Rovers are the young adults between 16 and 25 years old in our association. With their experience and skills, they contribute to their local group and at the state level.
As a modern youth organization, our work aims to support young people and young adults in their development into independent, critical, and responsible members of society. To this end, we conduct diverse and holistic leisure and educational activities from the local to the international level, based on the principles of the international Scouting movement and our own educational concept. Our actions are always guided by Lord Baden-Powell's (founder of the Scouting movement) mission: to leave the world a little better than we found it.
