District: Mitte

The Parkstraße day center offers people with intellectual and multiple disabilities the opportunity to participate in meaningful activities in various groups every workday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The day center encourages collaborative work and facilitates interaction with the environment.

Individual support

We support people individually and assist them in their social development. In this way, we contribute to ensuring that

  • self-esteem
  • Independence
  • self-confidence and
  • the ability to improve self- and other-perception

our day care center employees will be supported.

Our work, employment, and support services take into account the individual resources and interests of our employees and adapt to their daily needs. The SIVUS concept forms the basis for the pedagogical work of our interdisciplinary team.

Requirement

To attend the day care center, a person must be deemed unfit for vocational training and must have completed compulsory schooling.

There are currently five working groups, which you can briefly explore here:

Creative workshop

The creative workshop is a group where handcrafted goods are produced in small projects. Everyone has a task, large or small, to complete. Currently, we are printing on so-called "Deichbüddel" (dike bags) and selling them in various shops in Bremen. We also regularly offer:

  • Bake
  • cook
  • walks
  • Cafe search
  • Excursions
  • Relaxation offers

In addition, many employees also participate in the cross-group programs.

Printing

Every day, all five employees work together with the teaching staff in the print shop, printing, cutting, die-cutting, and perforating. We offer a variety of products, including weekly calendars, various notebooks, and notepads.

Furthermore, we produce invitation cards for events such as our summer festival. We also produce printed materials for our own internal use.

Occasionally we go on excursions or cook our own meals. Some employees also participate in activities across different groups.

Paper workshop

The paper workshop is an employment group of up to ten people. Activities include papermaking as well as painting and drawing using various techniques and materials.

The result is a selection of artistic jewelry cards and calendars, as well as handmade envelopes and bookmarks for sale.

We regularly take advantage of the opportunity to cook or bake in our teaching kitchen. We organize excursions for our group or take walks in the nearby public park.

Cafe

On the ground floor of the day center there is a café run by our employees. Opening hours depend on operational needs and are generally:

Morning: from 10:30 to 11:30 am
Afternoon: from 12:40 to 14:00

The café team consists of up to ten employees. Our work focuses on organizing and maintaining the café, as well as selling drinks, yogurt, and sweets. The café is open in the mornings and during breaks as a meeting place for all employees of the day center.

garden shed

The Garden House group focuses on gardening and project-based design. This includes various printing techniques, papier-mâché, painting, and drawing. We also offer the following as in-group activities:
