Social Work – Movement – Lifestyle

Our programs offer supportive communities and educational opportunities to unlock the potential of disadvantaged youth. With your help, we can continue to positively impact their future.

Unfortunately, a lack of prospects for children and young people from neighborhoods with developmental needs is not uncommon and jeopardizes the future of many young people who are not satisfied with such a standstill in development.

Hood Training offers children and young people new options and opportunities arising from personal motivation, active youth culture and teamwork; according to the motto "Never stand still".

Regular participation in our organized sports, arts and culture programs makes it possible to promote the participants' own skills, self-confidence and personal perspectives, which is also the basis of Hood Trainings' educational concept.

Achieving more together

Through a diverse range of activities – including group sports, music beat production, video and photo creation, as well as support for and participation in larger events – Hood Training enables members to discover their own athletic and personal strengths. We also emphasize a growing sense of community and training in managing aggression.

Guiding principles of Diakonie Bremen

Based on the Gospel, we act diaconally and, as a diverse community, support people – unconditionally and cooperatively. We engage with society in a sustainable, pioneering, and visible way through word and deed, faith and action, and love of God and neighbor. In this way, we help shape a social, loving, and responsible society.

The Hood Training concept differs from other youth projects through its diverse range of offerings. This completely new approach allows Hood Training to positively influence urban youth culture without being didactic in the traditional sense.

Our trainers are accepted as role models and figures of respect alike; this is established through the authenticity of the trainers and working on an equal footing with the participants.

The aim is to spark the interest of young people by giving them the opportunity to participate in various sports activities and urban youth culture projects (graffiti, hip-hop, dance). The consistently positive development of relationships between coaches and participants allows the pedagogical approaches during training to be effective.

The right approach to conflict resolution is extremely important in Hood Training; therefore, participants are offered opportunities to release frustration and are taught how to handle conflicts effectively. Furthermore, integration and communication are key focuses; this has a positive impact on reducing the propensity for violence and simultaneously strengthens the participants' self-confidence.
