The Hemelingen youth center is primarily aimed at children and young people aged 10 to 18 in the Hemelingen district.
The children's and youth center has a usable area of approximately 460 square meters and is designed with a clear focus on play, sport and exercise.
The centerpiece is a versatile hall (used, among other things, for dance, movement, and music programs), complemented by creative, music, computer, and group rooms. Changing rooms and showers are available for sports activities; furthermore, close cooperation with the neighboring Hemelingen district sports facility is planned.
Furthermore, a separate kitchen with a dining area enables low-threshold services such as shared lunch, homework time and supervised afternoon activities.
Since September 1, 2025, the youth center has been operated by the association Kinder- und Jugendvision e. V.; the facility was reopened on November 18, 2025 after extensive renovation.
We offer all young people in the neighborhood an open house where they are treated with respect and tolerance – regardless of origin, gender, religion, or disability. Our goal is to strengthen young people in their personal development, promote their resources, and build social skills.
We value inclusion, gender equality, and genuine participation. Through participatory processes such as a regular youth center conference, young people have their own body where they can voice their interests and wishes and participate in decisions made within the center. We place particular emphasis on:
- Participation and personal responsibility through fixed co-determination structures and budget shares for young people
- gender-sensitive and inclusive work with specific services and safe spaces
- an open, low-threshold welcoming culture – without preconditions
- close cooperation with schools, sports clubs and other partners in the district
- Opening hours tailored to specific needs, especially in the afternoon, evening, on weekends and during holidays
- Holiday programs, excursions and multi-day trips that foster community and new experiences
- a sports education focus with low-threshold exercise opportunities for everyone
- Cooperations with sports clubs (e.g. SV Hemelingen) and projects such as the "Hemelinger Liga"
- Qualification opportunities in the sports sector, e.g. Juleica (Youth Leader Card), referee or instructor training courses
