The Baumhöhle children's center is located in the Walle district. Our facility offers space for 60 children aged three to six, who are cared for in mixed-age groups.
Furthermore, the children's center is a branch of the Interdisciplinary Early Intervention Center of the German Red Cross (DRK) Bremen District Association, where the focus is on the joint education and development of children with and without disabilities, and where special education and therapeutic services are also offered. In our children's center, we operate according to an open concept. By "open," we mean:
- open to the life situation of the children and their families
- Open to the developmental needs and perspectives of children, expressed through their right to participate in decision-making. The child is seen as an independent person.
- open to parents and family members, i.e., the educational work is made transparent for parents in the form of parent information evenings, observation and participation in celebrations.
- Openly present to the outside world through public relations and self-presentation of the children's home in the Walle district.
The concept, with its open group doors, gives children the opportunity to freely shape their daily kindergarten routine. The individual activity rooms, each with its own focus on creativity, role-playing, movement, and construction, as well as the large outdoor area, offer plenty of space for play, new ideas, and activities across different groups.
