Interactive domestic science museum and hands-on museum

A 120-year-old cigar factory in Bremen-Burgdamm was converted into an intergenerational housing project in 2003. It also houses the interactive museum "Köksch un Qualm" (Cooking and Smoke) and a small exhibition on the history of the tobacco trade in Bremen and cigar production in Bremen-North.

The bras branch "Köksch un Qualm" is an interactive domestic science museum where visitors can learn about life and work around 1900. Our participants, dressed in historical costumes, offer museum visitors insights into the arduous housework of a middle-class household 100 years ago.

Köksch un Qualm is an exhibition project of the Bremen employment agency bras eV. Here, long-term unemployed people work and learn under guidance the diverse aspects of museum presentation, event management and guest service.
