The Union

The association KUNE eV supports refugees on migration routes, at Europe's borders, and in refugee camps, assists with their integration in Germany, and supports the development of self-help projects in their countries of origin.
It is there before people receive aid from their respective states and, ideally, asylum.
Its members are an open group of people who strive to make the world a better place with the resources available to them.

How it all began

The work began in 2015, when the so-called refugee crisis broke out in Europe. We asked ourselves whether we wanted to live in a Europe where the plight of people fleeing is met with the construction of fences.

So they simply got started, selling items they had collected at flea markets to raise money. After the association had gathered enough donations of goods and money through further fundraising events, a group set off in November 2015 towards the Balkan route.
The experiences gained on this journey were deeply moving. The group encountered people arriving at the mostly overcrowded camps completely exhausted, hungry, and thirsty. They received little to no care and were immediately driven further west.
With the donated funds, the association members purchased items such as shoes, hygiene products, and food on site and distributed these items, along with the clothing they had brought with them, to the people.
