Midwifery support in the neighborhood

We provide support and facilitate access to family services in the neighborhood. Interpreters are available to ensure clear communication. We offer courses on life with an infant that are not currently available in the area.

On behalf of the Senator for Health, Women and Consumer Protection, the Hans Wendt Foundation has established a midwifery center in Bremen's north. Expectant families will also find a pediatrician's office and a gynecologist's office in the same building.

Giving every child a good start in life!
We want to support and accompany women, children, and their families during this particularly sensitive phase of life. Finding a midwife is often difficult and usually unsuccessful for expectant parents. We address this with a dedicated team of midwives and a straightforward, local referral service. In a comfortable atmosphere, expectant parents have the opportunity to express their questions, concerns, and fears during our midwife consultation hours.

The Midwifery Center North is responsible for the following areas:

  • Blumenthal (Blumenthal, Farge, Rekum, Rönnebeck, Lüssum-Bockhorn)
  • Vegesack (Vegesack, Schönebeck, Grohn, Fähr-Lobbendorf, Aumund-Hammersbeck)
  • Burglesum (Lesum, Burg-Grambke, Werderland, Burgdamm, St. Magnus)

As a pregnant woman, a new mother or a breastfeeding woman, you are entitled to midwifery care through your health insurance.

At the Midwifery Center North, you can receive care during pregnancy and after childbirth. This takes place either at the center itself or, especially in the first few weeks after birth, in your home. Courses and consultations are also offered.
