Giving birth in Germany

The birth of a child is one of the most important moments in a woman's life.

Despite the wealth of information available, expecting parents today are often uncertain or anxious.

We want to provide you with first-hand facts and sensitive tips so that by the end of this course you feel as prepared as possible for the birth of your child.

We will discuss the following topics, among others:

  • Birth (phases/mechanics/positions)
  • Contractions (development/types/learning effective breathing techniques)
  • Pain management options (massage/movement/pain medication)
  • Possible medical interventions in the delivery room (induction/MBU/KSE/VE)
  • What is different about a cesarean section?
  • Instructions for easy breastfeeding initiation
  • Learning how to handle a newborn
  • Postpartum period? What is that exactly?

This class always takes place on weekends (Saturday + Sunday) from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Parent Center at Klinikum Bremen-Nord. You are welcome to bring a partner.

Class instructor: Midwife Annalee Kaiser
