House of the Bremen Home Foundation
with services in the areas of housing, care and social interaction for people of all generations and different cultures
Swiss Quarter – that's the name given to a district in the east of Bremen, in the center of which lies the multi-generational house.
What makes this house special?
It is one of approximately 540 multi-generational houses nationwide, which are funded by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth and their respective municipalities.
For Graubündener Straße 10, this means: living for young and old, living with service or living in a care community as well as visiting a day care center for seniors are just some aspects of daily life on site.
Furthermore, the house invites residents, relatives, friends, neighbors from the neighborhood and guests to stay here, participate and help shape things, for example in the form of voluntary engagement.
The center for encounters is the "Open Meeting Place" – a café-restaurant offering breakfast, lunch, coffee and cake at affordable prices – and event rooms provided by the house.
Cooperations
Last but not least, numerous cooperation partners will also bring the multi-generational housing complex in Bremen's Swiss Quarter to life. For example, the Eugen Kulenkamp Foundation is setting up 50 apartments for low-income people in an adjacent building.
The Hans Wendt Foundation is responsible for operating the daycare center and nursery on site, and the association "bras – arbeiten für bremen" runs the catering service. This comprehensive concept also convinced the association FORUM Gemeinschaftliches Wohnen e. V., which is also providing financial support for the project.
