Quarter Friends – a project of the St. Petri Widows' House Foundation
The "Neighborhood Friends" see themselves as "friends" in the neighborhood, giving older people who, due to age, illness, disability, or other reasons, have difficulty leaving their homes or have few social contacts, the opportunity to participate in social and community life again. The assistance is open to all seniors, regardless of religion or origin. The "Neighborhood Friends" are active in the districts of Eastern Suburb, Steintor, Ostertor, Peterswerder, Fesenfeld, and Gete.
What can we do for you?
We, the Neighborhood Friends, offer visits and companionship to seniors in our neighborhood.
We are happy to come to your home upon request and spend time chatting, reading together, or pursuing hobbies.
We also enjoy accompanying you on walks, to concerts, or to senior citizen gatherings. And we are happy to help when things get complicated, assisting with applications or visits to government offices. If we are unable to find a solution together, we can connect you with the right resources.
Incidentally, Viertelfreunde are all volunteers, so the service is free for you.
Why do we need you as a volunteer "neighborhood friend"?
Because you enjoy supporting older people and you know that interacting with seniors is enriching for everyone. If you would like to get involved right here, in your and our neighborhood, you now have the opportunity to do so.
But how?
Please contact us by phone or email. You can find our contact details in the legal notice or under "Dates". We will then discuss all further details personally. You will receive thorough training and professional support.
Regular meetings with the neighborhood friends allow you to exchange ideas with other volunteers and get to know new people.
It's just a small step. We look forward to seeing you!
