Debt counselling

We are a non-profit organization, founded in 1995 and operating under the umbrella of the Paritätische Wohlfahrtsverband (Parity Welfare Association) since 2000 as a "suitable body" recognized by the Senator for Social Affairs of Bremen under Section 305 of the German Insolvency Code (InsO) for advising debtors. During this time, we have already been able to help more than 5,500 people seeking advice from Bremen and the surrounding area.

Our consultants are lawyers and attorneys with various areas of expertise.

Through our membership in the Bremen State Debt Counselling Centre (FSB) and the Federal Association of Debt Counselling (BAG Schuldnerberatung e. V.), the ongoing professional development of our team is ensured.

The initial consultation is generally free and non-binding. If you need a P-account certificate, please arrange an appointment by phone.

Why online counseling?

When problems arise, it's not always necessary to immediately seek help from a counseling center. Often, you can help yourself. However, this requires the right information and the knowledge of how to use it effectively. With online counseling, you have both. You describe your problem.

The consultant responsible for this issue will review it and then provide you with appropriate advice. If necessary, a personal appointment with the consultant can still be arranged. Until then, your anonymity is guaranteed.

Debt makes you sick…

Anyone who has debts and can no longer pay them is constantly under pressure, under pressure from morning till night, every single day. They can think of almost nothing else but their debts. They no longer want to check the mailbox, answer the phone, and are reluctant to even open the front door.

Added to this is the fear of back payments for electricity and heating, prescription fees, and potentially upcoming school trips for the children. This can make you ill in the long run! But this pressure is completely unnecessary. After visiting an officially approved debt counseling center, it often disappears. So it's worth taking the time to do so!

Budget planning

When the household budget isn't enough…

If you know that money is always coming in, but you don't know how much of it you can actually spend each month without your bank getting angry and stopping payments for rent, utilities, etc., then you lack a budget and therefore an overview of your finances. To change that, you simply need to list your fixed costs: rent, utilities, heating, transportation, and everything else you have to pay regularly.

Subtract these expenses from your monthly income, and you can easily calculate how much money you have left each month for discretionary spending. This will give you the necessary overview. You are welcome to pick up the necessary forms and brochures with relevant examples from us.

Prevention

Prevention is better than cure…

People with problems often don't know that there are people who can help them overcome them. They also don't know who they'll be dealing with. So that they at least know who we are and how we can help them or others, we take every opportunity to demonstrate this. That's why you'll often find us at regional events, festivals, or exhibitions.

Problems with debt, household budgets, and bureaucracy are always present. That's why we're there locally. However, because it's even more important to prevent these problems from arising in the first place, we increasingly give presentations in schools and conduct preventative courses and seminars at various educational institutions. Our project manager, Ms. Corina Lechner, will be happy to answer any questions or provide further information.
