School Express

The SCHOOL EXPRESS is a service for parents who want to contribute to their children's safe journey to school. Clearly visible bus stops are set up around the primary schools, from which the children can walk to school in a maximum of 15 minutes.

Our SCHOOL EXPRESS stops serve as meeting points for children who want to walk to school together and live near a stop. If the walk to school is a bit longer, the meeting points can also be used as drop-off points for parents. In this case, parents bring their children to one of the stops, and the children walk the rest of the way to school. This avoids parking and maneuvering in the school area and distributes traffic throughout the school's catchment area. This also prevents unnecessary car mileage. Every car parked near the school obstructs the view of children crossing the street. And every car maneuvering in front of the school poses a potential hazard to the students.

To address this problem, we launched the SCHOOL EXPRESS. At many schools, our project has already significantly reduced car traffic.

Advantages of the SCHOOL EXPRESS:

• Children get exercise and oxygen before and after school – they are more balanced and focused.
• Exercise has a positive effect on illnesses and body coordination – children who walk to school are generally more active.
• The world is perceived and experienced more intensely. Even small details on the way to school are actively noticed. This promotes the children's intellectual development.
• A school route undertaken alone by children promotes self-confidence and serves as practical traffic education.
• Our environment is relieved of stress and we can be role models for our children by avoiding unnecessary car miles.
• The time-consuming drop-off and pick-up service relieves us parents.
• And last but not least, friendships can be expanded casually.
