District: Mitte

Working together to find solutions for one's own situation is a guiding principle in self-help.

The self-help network is:

  • A contact point for people seeking others affected by similar worries and needs.
  • A contact point for people with ideas and commitment
  • Providing practical support to clubs: from finding premises to accounting

For 40 years, Netzwerk Selbsthilfe has been on the ball when it comes to..

  • to put an idea into practice
  • to take initiative to highlight or rectify grievances
  • to enable social engagement in different fields

The Self-Help Network supports self-help groups and associations in their founding phase and during their ongoing work, in developing sustainable structures and in financing.

Since 1997, the Self-Help Network has been the operator of the cross-cutting independent self-help contact point in Bremen and refers affected persons and relatives to various self-help support services or institutions in the health and social sector.

Over these 20 years, we have repeatedly found new ways to offer previously unreached target groups opportunities for self-help and have developed corresponding concepts. Our guiding principle in all areas is helping people to help themselves.

The Self-Help Network is a non-profit, independent association and is not affiliated with any other organization. The board consists of at least two people, is elected every two years, and can be contacted via email or post at the association's address. Donations to support its work are gratefully accepted.
