Children should be able to play music or do sports. We are committed to making that happen.
The founders, Gertrude and Hannelore Klier, are mother and daughter. With the establishment of their foundation, they wish to make a lasting contribution to the future. This will be achieved by supporting sports and/or music for children and young people. They are convinced that pursuing music and/or sports as a hobby helps to strengthen young people and make them better prepared for life.
A good pass, a harmonious sound
Anyone who has ever seen a humming child with a guitar case on their back, or one cycling home in training gear with rosy cheeks, brimming with energy, knows what sport and music can mean for children. Not because they make a career out of it, and not because they win competitions, but because they grow through athletic and musical challenges; all the more so when they experience these challenges in a group.
The skills and abilities fostered through sports and music have long been recognized by educators and researchers – and we agree. Children who are active in sports and music are more creative, have greater stamina, are more flexible, and more self-confident. Playing on a team or in an orchestra also develops teamwork skills. Therefore, we want to enable children and young people whose families cannot afford it to participate in these activities.
What we promote
From rental instruments to suitable soccer cleats: The foundation's purpose is clear: We enable children from low-income families to access music and sports. We provide financial assistance for this purpose. Specifically, we cover instrument rental fees or pay for essential items needed for a hobby: This could include strings, ballet shoes, or even a training camp. For a fixed period, we also cover ongoing expenses such as tuition fees or club dues.
Who receives funding
All young people with a passion for sports or music: Every child and young person from a low-income background can receive support from the foundation – in exceptional cases, even beyond the age of 18. Children and young people from Bremen-Hastedt and Bremen-Osterholz, the Bremen districts where the founders live, are given priority.
