Help for victims of violent crimes
Victims of violent crimes often suffer physical, psychological, and economic consequences. The Law on Compensation for Victims of Violent Crimes (OEG) regulates, upon application, individual benefits such as medical treatment and rehabilitation, up to and including the granting of a disability/survivor's pension.

After an experience of violence
Following an experience of physical or psychological violence, symptoms of severe psychological distress such as depression, nightmares, anxiety, restlessness, or flashbacks may occur in individual cases. These are initially part of a normal stress response.
Sometimes, however, these symptoms persist longer and, in the worst case, lead to secondary conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder or depression. The immediate period following a traumatic experience is very stressful for many sufferers. Trauma clinics offer the necessary support in these situations.
Target audience
Trauma clinics offer psychotherapeutic support under the Victims' Compensation Act (OEG) for adults who have been victims of violent crime. This includes, in particular, cases involving capital crimes (robbery, serious bodily harm), sexual offenses, or so-called shock-related injuries (e.g., witnessing murder, manslaughter, or serious bodily harm).
